Breast Augmentation Surgery Preparation – My Personal Experience

Having gone through 2 breast augmentations and about 5 breast surgeries (boob jobs if you wish) total (not including an in-office incision touch up), I kind of have the whole recovery process down pat.  I am going to share some tips with you that I personally feel are important in the preparation and recovery after breast augmentation surgery.

Botox - A Girl's Best Friend or Happy Birthday to Me

Updated on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 05:21PM by Registered CommenterMarianne

botox.jpgAhhhh. I forgot just how glorious Botox® truly is! I turned 35 on May 22 and realized this past year had been so crazy-busy that my last Botox injection was almost a year ago. And I was starting to look like it, too. I called my doctor up, begged her to fit me in for an appointment, and off I went to get ‘toxed.

As I sat in the chair, she proceeded to use my face as a dartboard and worked her magic. I had forgotten how much it could sting (especially if it’s right before your menstrual cycle, ladies). Plus, the cost of Botox went up. Again. And like an addict, I would have sold my car on the spot for a shot, or three. Your doctor’s cost is about $505. per vial these days ($5.05 per unit at 100 units per vial, and at normal reconstitution, that’s 4 cc of product per vial, equaling approximately 4 treatment areas). Factor in the mark-up at about $250. an area in average places in Los Angeles making Botox® one of the most expensive habits one can have, outside collecting flawless gemstones. But, oh is it worth it!!!

Welcome to my blog!

marianne.JPGHi! I’m Marianne Guarena and I’m here to help you and to support you in your “aesthetic journey.” Having plastic surgery is exciting, scary, and fulfilling all at the same time. It not only can change how other people see you … but how you see yourself—inside and out. I had my first enhancements almost a decade ago and these cosmetic surgeries not only re-shaped me physically, but they helped me to find my career niche.

I will be blogging about my plastic surgery before-and-after experiences and sharing all the medical knowledge that I gained. I am passionate about plastic surgery and the benefits it offers and hope that you enjoy my frank, straightforward approach.

Breast Augmentation: How Big Is Too Big?

breast_photo.JPGSo you’re thinking to yourself, “I’m paying a lot of money so I might as well get my money’s worth and get them big as possible”, right? Well, don’t. You’ll eventually wind up miserable and in need of reconstruction. Been there, done that.

Or maybe you’re a hapless victim of your implanted friends priming you up for a bad case of boobie greed. They may say that they regret not going larger, but ask them why? Do you think theirs are too small? Or do you think they look like pin-up cartoons? Not that there’s anything wrong with that but you gotta wear ‘em, not them.

Let me mention first that if you are getting large breast implants because you feel that they will enhance your career (entertainment industry, etc.), this article will not apply to you. Unless, you choose to explant and will subsequently need a breast lift and other forms of reconstruction, of course. So, if you are the aforementioned “special needs” patient, then you can just read this for entertainment purposes. This article is for the every day breast enlargement varieties. But, if you fit the average breast augmentation patient category (not that any one of us is ‘average, but you know what I mean), then I suggest that you go with what looks good on your own body, and not getting more cup for your buck.

Breast Augmentation: How young is too young for breast implants?

brest_aug_marianne.JPGClearly this is a very controversial subject. Nonetheless, teen breast augmentation is on the rise, coming to a city near you—and fast! According to the American Society for Plastic Surgery, in 2006 there were approximately 329,000 breast augmentations in the United States. 9,104 of them were for patients in the 13 - 19 year old category, plus 80 explant operations on top of that. That is a 12% increase in teenage breast augmentation from 2005 to 2006! Post-graduation breast augmentation gifts may be gaining in popularity but honestly, is it really good for your body at this age?
