Hunter-Jumpers & Horseback Riders

jumping_Cali.jpgI am presently on horseback in the middle of Mongolia at the time of this publishing. I’ll be back September 2nd*

I love riding horses! I have been riding since I was about 4 years old. I grew up around them most of my life; riding is probably one of the most relaxing things that I can do. Just being around horses is a wonderful experience for me.

The effects of riding, however, are largely dependent upon where you do it, and what time of day you choose to ride. The mornings are far less harsh in general but for many of us, morning rides aren’t always possible. Many of us ride as much as we can for the weekend to make up for the lack of riding during the week. This means, broad daylight, under the heart of the sun. The UV exposure can be really harsh! In fact, some of my worse sunburns have been while horseback riding. The dustiness and perspiration are also issues. I will go over some problems I seem to face while riding. It seems to be worse when I trail ride because I am on horseback for so much longer.

Chemical Peels: My Best Pick is Cosmelan!

Out of all of the peels and medications I have used (glycolics, lactic acid, salicylic, Obagi, TCA, Cosmelan 1 and 2, Retin A, Retin A Micro, and Azealic acid)—I prefer Cosmelan and Avene retrinal 0.05%.

I also prefer using just the Cosmelan 2 as a skin freshener. I use Cosmelan 2 on its own occasionally when I don’t feel like going through a full peel. Using the old Cosmelan 2 formula (with the higher pH) still gets you nice and red, which lasts about three days, and seems to make a difference in my overall skin clarity after it clears up. You do flake a bit, although not as thoroughly, of course, as if I had had the full Cosmelan peel.

Sailing

sailing_121506.jpgI love sailing! I don’t get to do it as often as I’d like but I certainly enjoy it when I do. Now, you may not think Sailing is extreme. But it can be. Anything can be extreme if you put a spin on it, speed it up, or if the weather is bad. Personally, I like speeding things up a bit. Racing is a lot of fun! But it can be hardcore on your body.

The worst thing about sailing is its effect on your skin and hair. The moist air usually makes my hair very mushy feeling since I lighten it. The UV exposure can be harsh! And the wind can temporarily destroy your skin. You simply must take precautions if you are going to maintain your appearance.

The Perfect Age for Facelift: How Old Should You Be?

facedropshadow.jpgThe “perfect” age for a face-lift is when you need one. There is no absolute age when it becomes a necessity. Genes, lifestyle and your prior beauty treatments significantly alter the time when a visit to the plastic surgeon becomes a good idea.

Would I Have Rhinoplasty Again?

The tip of my nose goes a little to the left. Not that you could notice because you wouldn’t sit there and look at my nose in a thousand different angles repeatedly. But, you would your own. Also, I had to have cartilage taken out on the right side and added to the left. But, I noticed by comparing my befores that my nose went to the side even before my rhinoplasty.
