WEN Hair Care Products?
As I was lying on the bed using my Wellbox unit, I flipped on the television and came across an infomercial for WEN Haircare products by Chaz Dean. Ever since removing my extensions my hair has gotten so much healthier. Of course, I have had to cut off a lot of damage, change homecare products and go in for regular treatments. But still, I feel my homecare is still lacking.
I am a sucker for infomercials (especially kitchen items and those As Seen on TV tools and what not; think Mighty Putty and the MXZ Saw. Yes, I own them both, and neither worked) and don’t want to waste any more money. A thirty day supply of the WEN Haircare line is $29.95 and for that you get the Cleansing Conditioner, Styling Creme, Re Moist Intensive Hair Repair Mask, plus two bonuses: Texture Balm and a Wide Tooth Shower Comb. The only problem is that they put you on an automatic shipment list and nothing irritates me more. Proactiv does that and although I am not incredibly perturbed about Proactiv’s auto-shipments, the fact that I did not have a choice without jumping through hoops is incredibly presumptuous in my opinion.
So for now, I am not going to order it until I can get some real consumer feedback on the line. Afterall, my hair is getting better. It just isn’t improving as fast as I would like it to—as in more than humanly possible. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried this line and if so, do you feel that it really does improve the hair? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I tried some of their stuff and felt it was overpriced. I have fine hair but tons of it- I used to bleach it blonde so I tried to be gentle as possible with it. Sulfate free shampoos are a great way to go but only if you don't use heavy styling products or any kind of silicone based product (SLS are strong enough to remove this so it builds up). anyway, the wen shampoo I tried didn't really leave my hair feeling clean. I'm used to sls-free products and while Wen might be very gentle, I could't really see it as shampoo.
what did save my hair when I bleached it was Aphogee, its the mother of all protein treatments and can be found at sallys. its pretty cheap but you don't use it like any other product- this stuff is serious!

Marianne, sorry to hijack the thread, but I didn't see an email link for you. I just wanted to tell you that I'm glad I've found you again! I went to YTF just a few times this past year and wondered why there weren't any updates, then today I found this site. Yay for me! :)
I have heard Aphogee is fantastic. I have a little meltage leftover at the ends of my bangs, but they get trimmed every 6 weeks. Hopefully it will be gone eventually.
I do use silicone products twice week, but no hairspray or anything. I am in a healing stage so I don't even style my hair at all. I wash it twice week, apply a leave-in, sone silicone droplets (Girltoyz), comb it and put it in a scrunchie.
My hair is finally getting thicker, and longer but it is taking forever! Especially that I trim about the same growth amount every visit. I swear I will never get extensions again. It is clip-ins for me if I need them for something from now on.
I will try the Aphogee, thank you!!
Amanda,
I am so glad you found me!! I just started updating again--slowly but surely. I am going to be jumping back into the community again :) My sabbtical kept me from burning out. And trust me, I was fading fast!
I hope I see you here more often :)
I would truly like to order and try all new products that i find through ads and this has done serious damage to my hair. So now going on a natural treatment and seems like its getting better than before.
I've been using Wen for a week or two. Using it as directed I noticed a big change for the better in my color treated blonde hair that tends to dry and frizz out. My hair was soft, manageable, frizz free and honest to god looked like Jessica Simpson's for the first time I think ever. Prior to using Wen I had to use conditioners and leave in shine products in order to tame after shampooing frizz. Half the time by the second day my hair looked dried out anyway. With Wen I could go 3 days between shampoos and still look good, hydrated and manageable.
Now, the bad part. After using Wen for about 3-4 shampoos my hair started to feel weighed down, dull and dirty a day or so after washing. So I broke down and used a clarifying shampoo prior to the Wen routine. My hair felt clean and looked shiny.... but was not as manageable, had a bit of frizz and felt dry.
Now I am thinking that if I use a gentle non sulfate shampoo to lightly cleanse every 3-4 times I might keep my hair feeling clean while still enjoying the benefits of Wen. I really like the product but feel after a point you just gotta wash it out and start over again.
BTW, I cancelled the auto ship with no problem (QVC has a better deal- you can purchase the shampoo separately). Also, the Styling Creme is a mediocre product IMO- I use my usual Logics glosser. And the Texture Balm is awfully greasy- you'd never wash that stuff out just with the Wen!
This site has helped me alot. I figured Wen was an overpriced version of a number of recipes I've found online. These recipes are cheap and use all-natural products. Wen does have many of the ingrediants I found in these recipes, so, if you can afford it, and prefer the conveniance of it being already made for you, I say buy it. But I recomend that you do some research (books, online, etc.) to find easy recipes for natural hair cair. Also if anyone here has found a "can't live without" product, I'd love to hear about it!

I'm in dire need of hair product advice!
I have long, wavy hair- a tad thin but tons of it. Since I've turned 34 my hair has changed for the worse. Nothing I do seems to take away the frizz and fuzz and dryness. I've tried the pricey stuff as well as natural products, still looks like a pomeranian poof ball. Any advice?
