Silicone vs. Saline: The Best Pick For Active Girls
Usually the choice between saline and silicone is usually just an aesthetic decision. For me I feel the choice is an easy one considering my active lifestyle. Just this morning I went on a balloon jump and, although my opening was slow this time, I have had hard openings (which can cause the chest strap to do a number on my boobs. Although I am presently implantless, I am in the process of scheduling consultations to get them back! The last thing I need is a messy rupture which will require more downtime, and less active-time.
I am also worried that in the event of a silicone rupture, it is possible that every bit of silicone will not be removed. I just don’t feel the need to risk local complications from having inflammation from silicone being in the pocket area.
I know what you are probably thinking, well what about Gummy Bear implants? The Gummies are an option I have considered but the last time I checked, they were only available in the United States in an anatomical shape and my doctor (although he is pro-silicone) didn’t feel that they were an option for me. He felt that the incidence of them “flipping” gave him reason not to recommend them in general, and my chances of them flipping were increased because of my lifestyle on top of that. I asked him about the rounds and if I were able to finagle a set, what did he think. He said that he felt it would not be aesthetically pleasing and continued to suggest silicone gels.
So, that settled it for me. Besides, I LIKE saline implants. I am good with having saline and being very happy about it. I suppose
the biggest issue I have is the effects of lower molecular weight silicone in the body in the event there is a leak, or rupture, or simply through microscopic gel-bleeding. It’s a personal choice I feel I am happy with. Besides, I can always purposely rupture them if I am stranded in the desert without water, and no rescue in sight. ;o)
p.s. I ‘ll admit it, have been wearing a padded bra since having had my implants removed. However, during the BASE jumping trip, I actually wore a sportsbra to mash down what I do have. My no-boobs were getting in the way and my chest strap welt awkward, it was really starting to mess with my head. I am normally not a superstitious person by nature, but you develop superstitions and idiosyncrasies when you pick up extreme sports. If something feels weird, or you miss part of a prep ritual, it throws you off psychologically. So, they had to go. This definitely settles the fact that I am going to get large C’s, no larger than a small D with my next operation. Priorities!

Hi Marianne...that's fabulous! Are you going to use the same surgeon for re-implantation? How did the first phase of surgery go?
Hi Terit :) So good to see you here :))))
Even though the first surgery with him went wonderfullt, I decided not to go with him. I wish I could go to the same doc but he wants to charge me $15,000. FIFTEEN GRAND!!! Which I thought was insane, I said "no" a few days after I put down my $500. deposit and didn't get my deposit back even though it was 1 and 1/2 months notice.:(
So I started looking into DeWire since he performs the full submuscular placement and great Benelli lifts. I think I might need a little lift again to correct any remaining ptosis.
Fifteen grand! That's an economy car sitting on my chest!
I'm curious- why full sub-muscular as opposed to the partial?
