Green Acres is the Place to Be…
Farm living is the life for me. Ahhh out of Malibu, and into the wild, wild West. What a change this all is. No longer can I grab my board and take off to the beach in the morning. Now it’s all about waking up at stupid o’ clock to feed the horses, and watching the coyotes run around in my backyard in the evenings. Seriously.
It has always been a dream of mine to get out of the city and have my own ranch. I used to live in Texas as a child with my own horses and now realize just how much work my parents really did to keep the place going. Now, with just me, myself, and I, the work never ends. It’s a never ending routine which assures me an early bedtime every night. I now go to bed sore from horseback riding, hauling wood or hay, weed-eating, installing solar lights, you name it, I can do it. I even bought my own chainsaw! Imagine replacing my foot spa with a chainsaw!!
The peacefulness and tranquility of living out on a ranch is unbelievable. It is quiet (except for the horses, hawks, owls, and coyotes—but I love it) and the sunrises and sunsets are beautiful. But, like everything else it is not without its downsides. For instance, I have no Internet connection as of yet and have been working out of either Starbuck’s or the dropzone for two weeks. I have been advised I will not have Internet for at least another two weeks. It took me 2 weeks to get a working phone into the house, the DirectTV guy couldn’t get out here for a while, in fact even though it is set up, I still can’t watch TV. Cell phone coverage is a cruel joke. The wild cucumber is taking over everything and all I do is pull them out just to have 2 pop up in its place a few days later. My automatic security gate closed on my car when I was stupidly admiring my newly installed amber solar lights, so now I have a dent on one side and paint chipped off on both doors. I have to drive 10 miles to get to a grocery store, but I have to drive slowly because of the coyotes and deer. But like I said, I love it!
I do not, however, love what it is doing to my body. I have no nails, in fact they are so thin from the acrylics all these years that they are jagged and splitting. My roots are about a foot long, my extensions need to be redone (if I redo them), and I need a pedicure so very badly. My skin is dry, and breaking out. How can this be?? I have a slight sunburn on my neck (OMG I literally am a redneck) because when I went riding yesterday (horses, not bikes) I put sunscreen on everywhere BUT my neck because I thought it was covered. My lips are chapped too, I am sore as can be, and I need a massage. I am not sipping lattes in Beverly Hills anymore., I’m a ranch-hand on my own ranch. I need to get used to this or it will kill me.
I figure as soon as I get everything in order (is it ever in order??) I am going to undergo an emergency beauty jam session. I am just plain skanky. Heck, I realized I hadn’t shaved in a week when I stopped to throw on my work jeans and saw the stubble. Nice.
Well, I am off to Starbuck’s to use their WiFi and my weekly articles uploaded. Maybe I’ll stay for a Caramel Macchiato…

Have you tried Nail Envy nail polish. They make a natural (no color) in mat finish so it looks like you don't have any nail polish on. It hardens your nails (downside-- it has formaldehyde in it). But, it will make your nails stop splitting and will make them hard. Mine were harder in one week.
Thank you for the tip! I wouldn't care if it had cyanide in it, as long as it works. They are AWFUL!!!!!!! I have horse supplements and paint either under them or between a flake/split (mor ethan likely the latter) because it won't come out and they are too short to clip anymore to rid myself of the stain that way.
At least my toenails are long enough to go get a pedicure now, lol. My hair is so three tone right now. And not in a good way.
I am going to go to RiteAid and pick up some Nail Envy if they have it there. I can't tell you how appreciative I am of the tip!

I don't know if you can find it at Rite-Aid. They sometimes carry it at beauty salons. Here's a link. Be sure to get the "mat." It looks natural. I have tried everything else. Then, I saw a girl with good nails and she told me about this product.

"Trind Nail Repair" hands down the best nail repair product i have ever used. I also had extremely damaged nails from years of acrylic perfection...I am also a "biter" since I was little, and have NEVER been able to grow my own nails...this stuff is amazing... It goes on like a pearl white and you must follow the instructions initially about applying a single fresh coat every day for the first week...I am still stunned by the results!! About $16 a bottle and worth it! You have to order online a far as I know, I've never seen it in the department or drug stores..Just do a search or it...if it helped mine well I bet it can fix yours...and now I will never again go back to acrylic!!

You caught me at a good time. I was just about to go back down the hill and get acrylics put back on. ;) Seriously.
They look so much better though. At least they have grown past the point of being painful. They are not past the tip of my finger but they don't hurt anymore. I can actually get dirt out from underneath them now, hehe. Funny what you take for granted.
I am going to go search for the product now, maybe I will hold off on the acrylic.

You're welcome! Ouch I remember the painful period...and the dirt..that is so funny! Don't do the acrylics!! I was totally addicted to my french manicured acrylics for sooo long...but there's nothing like having them natural...it feels so good to grow your own!
