Can't get back home to Malibu
All I can do is sit in front of the TV and watch the news, listening for any word on our canyon. I came out here to skydive and the Santa Anas are so bad even here it has been a wall of dust, it looks like a warzone. No one is going anywhere out here either, a huge tree blew over about 5 houses down yesterday evening.
I wish I would have stayed home in Malibu, at least I could have been able to help everyone evacuate the ranch and also get some of my things out. The authorities aren’t letting any of us back ionto PCH so my neighbor has my cats and the horses are ready to evacuate as well. We’re waiting to see what happens in the next few hours with the winds. There is a fire in the canyon next to mine so I don’t know if my place will burn down or not (pray that it won’t!). As long as the kitties and everyone is safe. I am waiting to get the go ahead for when I can get back in. I have been told there are power lines down on my canyon road anyway so I couldn’t get back up even if I wanted to, or were allowed to.
It’s just a waiting game. My prayers go out to those who have lost their homes, or have been injured. Be safe…
Back home and safe :) The 10 was a nightmare, as was the 15/91 route. So I took the long way around (215 to 60 to 605 to 210 to 134 to 101, took the Kanon exit and then to PCH—told you I took the long way around!) Smoke was everywhere, but there was almost no traffic.
There was a police officer at the base of my canyon road but he let me through. Today it is a lot clearer but the air is so still and stuffy, and smells awful. We were told to put our A/C o and keep our windows closed. My throat hurts and I keep coughing from the dust storm I was in for 2 days, then on top of that driving through the smokey areas and being around it in general, makes my nose burn and I have a sinus headache. I can’t imagine what the people who are actually knee deep in all this must feel like :(
These are pics I took at the dropzone. It was like breathing in sand.

I saw the fire in the tv news, it's fearful. Are you well now?
We're okay now, thank you :) They passed out masks for us to wear the first few days because of the particulate matter in the air.
But it rained yesterday and helped the fires as well as cleared out the air. It is very blue in Malibu today. Although I certainly wouldn't go in the water now.
The winds are all gone, I hope they don't come back.
Thank you for asking about me, Marco :)
