What a Feather Lift Suture Looks Like

These are extras from my Feather Lift surgery I had quite a while back.  I have  been thinking about the Feather Lift procedure a lot lately because of the Contour Thread Lift that has replaced it.  I really wish I didn’t have these in my face  because honestly, I don’t believe they are doing anything at all.

Anyway, here it is…

I've had a few surgeons tell me Contour Threads are no longer being offered because the company that manufacturers them are coming out with something new and, presumably, better. We'll have to wait and see

Yes, you are correct. I was told that the barbs on the new suture are going to be made from polyglactin (or similar resorbable). I was told that it is the scar tissue not the actual suture that holds the lift in place and that once the scar tissue is in place, by that time the barbs will resorb. The smooth suture material will be easily removable because of this.

I don't know how long it will be, however, before it hits the market. I could ask though!

Hi Marianne,
I am supposed to have this procedure done today using the new Contour Thread Lift. Initially I was going to do a fat transfer, but we decided on this and Restylane instead. I will let you know how it goes. =) Yikes (but thank goodness for ativan!)

I'm post-op four days from having the Contour Threads dug out of my neck. The FDA has removed their approval for these and I can't believe any pb is still doing it or any informed person would have it done. I spent over two years in severe pain from the barbs and feeling the threads. I finally went to my pb in tears from the pain (he didn't know I was having problems) and told me they had to come out. He didn't charge me and did some extras for me to compensate for possible neck dropping after threads were removed. I've had to shut down my business to take care of this and even with meds I'm going through a lot of pain. I'd like to know if there is a class action lawsuit against Angiotech started yet. azdesigns@cox.net

I agree, the older syste, was a nightmare. I also had complications. I had thread slippage twice with extrusion. It sometimes even today presses on a nerve and causes me pain. I am afraid to remove them because of losing barbs in my face during extrusion.

I can't say the newer version will be any better only because of the nature of resorbable sutures. I personally sometimes have problems with Vicryl. I can't imagine having major inflammation in the face and resulting in lines of palpable scar tissue.

I hope everything is better for you :( I do not know of a Class Action, however.
