What a lip implant looks like...

This is what a round, 3mm ePTFE facial implant looks like.  It is the same material as is used in the namebrand Gore-Tex, however, this one is more porous and is the namebrand, Advanta.   It is commonly used in lip augmentation.  I had a very similar, but less porous (Gore S.A.M.) lip implant removed.

Is 3 mm on the large side for an implant? It looks like it would be too large for most lips, unless it gets compressed or resorbs once it's been implanted. I would think that augmenting the lip by just 1 mm would be enough to restore fullness in the majority of people. From my perspective, "trout pout" is one of the biggest giveaways that someone's had plastic surgery.

Actually they make a 6mm. They do shrink somewhat. The 3 mm doesn't really look that big when they are in.
