The Other Lip Implant: VeraFil™ (FulFil™):

Last time I read about this implant I was actually surprised that Medical Science was going back towards a permanent implant go the lips again. Evera Medical brings us VeraFil™, a silicone-shelled, saline-filled lip implant. Known as FulFil™ in Europe, this implant is pending FDA approval in the United States under the VeraFil name. Although this implant would seem to be softer than a solid, yet porous, expanded polytetraflouroethylene (ePFTE) implant (think Gore-Tex™), it gives me pause. I have had my share of problems with lip implants and am lip-implant shy because of it. This is not to say that VeraFil™ is not the answer to our small-lipped prayers—it very well may be.

Lifestyle Lift®: Would I Consider It?

facelift_drop.jpgProbably just like you, I have heard both positive and negative comments about the LifeStyle Lift®. Both good and bad feedback from patients who have had it and usually bad feedback from surgeons who do not perform it. Of course the ones who do perform it are all positive about the technique. I haven’t had this procedure so I cannot tell you from personal experience what I feel about it. But I can analyze it and take technique (if I can get a straight answer about surgical technique) into account when considering the procedure for myslf.

Facial Exercises: How Effective Are They?

facelift_drop.jpgI must say when I first heard about facial exercises about 8 years ago I was not impressed in the least.  I felt that the ‘Face Lift Without Surgery’ or ‘Exercise Your Way To A Tighter Face’ claims were so over the top.  Not to mention the money being made off of those of us looking for non-surgical solutions was pretty upsetting to me.  So, I set out to debunk the “myth” of facial muscle exercises. Well, in the process of debunking the myth, the myth debunked me—at least for a few of the exercises that I tested out.   Even though I only tried a few facial muscle exercise types, the fact that any of them worked at all shocked me in itself.

Gore-Tex Lip Implant Removal: My Experience

removal.jpgI had always wanted fuller lips, and Gore-Tex was the most permanent, but removeable, option at the time.  I wasn’t willing to go the silicone route and I was tired of getting collagen injections.  Restylane wasn’t even remotely available at the time either.  My doctor suggested Gore-Tex, or more correctly GORE S.A.M. (subcutaneous augmentation material). This implant is made from expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) and comes in tubular and flat forms.  The facial implants are normally more tubular. Since the implant is solid and easily removable, I agreed to the surgery.

Why I Had a Brow Lift

I sometimes wonder this myself.  I suppose I felt at the time that I looked tired, but mostly I wanted a more exotic appearance that raised brow can give. I sort scalpel_drop.jpgof got talked into it considering I could have done the same, albeit temporarily, with Botox every 4 months. Brow Lift surgery is no joke. Well, not a larger scarring version. I have the coolest pic of my scalp wide open and blood-stained blond hair. I look like a trauma victim.

Why in God’s name did I go for it? Well, I thought it was going to be a piece of cake and didn’t think the brow lift surgery risks would apply to me.  I thought it was going to be an easy fix with small scars, and I figured I was going under for other procedures, so why not?? It is amazing what you can be talked into when you have a film crew behind you cheering you on.
